Overview of the partnership

Australian International School Dubai (AIS) has partnered with Skodel to support the consistent collection of feedback from students and staff in order to gain wellbeing insights across the school. The focus is on understanding factors within the school’s control that influence wellbeing. With wellbeing as the underpinning element in the delivery of the Australian curriculum, this understanding is central to AIS’s approach in providing targeted support to continue to enhance the wellbeing within their community.

Emphasis on Wellbeing highlighted by KHDA Inspections

Dubai’s governing educational body, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) identifies wellbeing as a key pillar in its inspection framework. This emphasis signifies the growing recognition of wellbeing’s role in education, a stance embraced by AIS Dubai.

The importance of wellbeing in any organisation cannot be overstated as the key element. required for the success of our students and staff. We believe wellbeing processes should be consistently reviewed to ensure they remain effective and relevant. Skodel has played an ongoing key role in supporting us to meaningfully review our systems and processes by  ensuring we are able to check in regularly with our staff and students. It’s practical, enabling us to gather accurate data efficiently then act upon it authentically.” ~ Karen McCord, Principal AIS Dubai

AIS recognises that the objective is not a zero issue environment but rather, it ensures that there are manageable processes in place, enabling the best support possible. Stress and challenges will be part of any organisation, however, AIS is dedicated to ensuring that where there are feasible solutions, they do their best to implement them, and can evidence that.

AIS’s transition to shorter surveys was a strategic move aimed at improving engagement and data quality. This decision was based on the understanding that shorter surveys lead to higher completion rates and more actionable insights, with minimal disruption to daily routines.

“We have found Skodel to be a useful tool in collecting data about teacher and student wellbeing. The data is easy to use and the implications are relevant and practical to apply in a school context. Their team has been efficient and supportive from explaining the process, setting up the technology to running check-ins, to creating user-friendly reports. It provides just the right level of detail that is practical for teachers and students to use, it is not overly lengthy to fill out the check in, nor to read and implement the report.” Sanobia Palkhiwala
